NFL Denver vs Cleveland Point Spread and Preview
The early opening line on this game was Denver -1. That was before the news hit that QB Joe Flacco is out for the season with an injury. The Broncos will now turn to QB Brandon Allen to lead them. The QB apparently has no snaps in a real game in the NFL. As a result, the struggling Browns have become 4 point favorites.
Both teams are having a bad years. Denver is 2-6 while the Browns are 2-5. Cleveland is also 2-5 against the spread. Denver is 4-4 ATS.
66% of the betting public is on Cleveland at this point. They are rolling the dice that sophomore slumping QB Baker Mayfield will be able to manage a win and cover against the QB that hasn’t played.
Cleveland hasn’t had much luck against Denver in recent years. In fact, Cleveland is 1-7 SU in its last 8 games when playing Denver. They are 1-4 SU in its last 5 games when playing on the road against Denver. And finally, Cleveland is 1-4-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Denver.
Both teams offensive yardage numbers are very similar but Denver has the advantage on defense allowing about 305 YPG compared to Cleveland’s 365.
As much as I hate it, the play here may be taking Denver (+4) with the fresh faced nobody QB against the Cleveland team that seems to be snake-bitten. They have a ton of talent, but it doesn’t seem to be meshing in any comprehensible way.
