Indiana Hoosiers (12-12) vs. Purdue Boilermakers (18-5)

Tonight, February 8, 2011, the Hoosiers of Indiana take on the Boilermakers of Purdue at 7:00 pm EST at the Mackey Arena.  As the records indicate, Purdue is the better basketball team. However, Indiana has been playing well as of late, beating Minnesota and Illinois. Also, they only lost by one point to Iowa and Michigan State. This is the “meaty” part of their schedule and they are fairing well.  Purdue has just lost to Ohio State and Wisconsin, the two best teams in the conference. Purdue is widely considered the third best team in the Big Ten.

Indiana is 0-7 straight up on the road this year. Purdue is 13-1 SU at home.  Both teams are averaging right around 73 points on offense.  However, Indiana allows 67 points per game on defense compared to just 61 that Purdue allows.  Basically Purdue is a bigger and better basketball team playing at home vs. an inferior team that plays badly on the road. We can see Purdue establishing themselves early and opening it up in the second half of the game.  The point spread is 14 and is just about right. And we see Purdue just barely covering this spread and winning by 16 or more.
