College Football Championship Game Spread and Total
I this article we will discuss the line for the college football championship game which will feature Clemson vs Alabama for the third time in four years. This will also mark the fourth straight year the two have played in the College Football Playoffs.
Clemson destroyed Notre Dame (Clemson: 30, Notre Dame 3) earlier Saturday easily covering their 11 point spread. The total stayed UNDER 58 in that game.
Alabama handled Oklahoma in the late game and it was not nearly as close as the score would seem to indicate (Alabama 45, Oklahoma 34). Alabama jumped out to a 28-0 lead and never really sweated the come back. Oklahoma covered the +14 point spread and the UNDER cashed for the late comers. If you bet the over early on game day or at any time before that, your OVER bet paid off. The total went from 77 to 80.5 points in under 24 hours.
On Monday January 7, 2019 the Championship Game will be played on ESPN. The game is at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The game starts at 8pm EST/ 5pm Pacific. The line and total was issued by online sportsbooks and are as follows:
Open: Monday December 29th, 2018
Clemson +6.5
Alabama -6.5
Total: 61
Updated: Friday January 4th, 2019
Clemson +5
Alabama -5
Total: 58.5
Moneyline:
Clemson +180
Alabama -210
Earlier this month hypothetical lines had Alabama -8.5 and total at 62. The dominant performance put on by Clemson in the playoff game was enough to inspire oddsmakers to drop that number before releasing it. Some sportsbooks offer these “exotic lines” on hypothetical match-ups that take place in the near future and some people were able to bet Clemson +8.5 before the playoffs games even started. Will the actual game line raise up to that level? Time will tell.
The spread will surely change some and it is a good idea to bookmark a live odds page
