Odds Where Jimmy Butler Will Play Next
Miami seems to have a problem with discontent players. Over in Miami Gardens, you had Tyreek Hill quitting on the team the last game of the year and telling the media he wants out of Miami. Over in downtown Miami you have a disgruntled veteran NBA star Jimmy Butler sitting out games and requesting a trade.
The Heat have benefitted from Jimmy’s tenure having made it to the NBA Finals twice, albeit losing both series (Lakers 4-2 in 2020, Nuggets 4-1 in 2022). It is the end of a relatively short and successful era in Heat basketball. Butler joined the team in July of 2019 and by all accounts is done in Miami.
On the Miami Heat’s X account, the team posted this message:
“The Miami HEAT are suspending Jimmy Butler without pay effective immediately for an indefinite period to last no fewer than five games. The suspension is due to a continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services. This includes walking out of practice earlier today.”
When Jimmy and the team couldn’t agree on a contract extension in the summer of 2024, Jimmy’s apparent contempt for his employer started.
Jimmy has since called for a trade and seems to be actively trying to undermine his current squad until the deal is completed. Before the trade deadline on February 6, the Heat were reluctant to part with their star, but they have since begun to consider other options. Nevertheless, Jimmy is obviously growing impatient as they take their time to make sure they get the best deal for the star player.
The Heat are just 23-22 W/L this season as of the time of publication.
