First Super Bowl 59 Prediction Comes from Unexpected Source – Tecmo Bowl

Remember the late 80’s and early 90’s? Remember sitting down with your NES or Sega Genesis and popping in Tecmo Bowl or Super Tecmo Bowl and playing for hours? I do! It may not have been the most intricate or aesthetically pleasing of a video game but it did the job. Personally, I thought it captured the essence of football in a very simplified and easy to play manner. It truly was one of my favorite games.

Well, there are many others out there who think about Tecmo Bowl in a fond light too and they keep the game alive by doing various things like Tecmo Bowl tournaments for cash prizes and simulations of upcoming real life games. Programmers enter each modern players’ information into the system and assign different strengths and weaknesses based on how they interpret them. And Super Bowl 59 just got its own treatment.

This 17 minute video brought me back to the days of Tecmo in all its super-fast clock running, ignoring wide open receivering, bonehead clock management glory. The interesting thing is that the outcome of this simulation is sort-of where our head is at regarding the handicapping of this game.
