Las Vegas Man Places $1.3M Bet on the Chiefs
Although betting on the Chiefs to win the AFC is not a big story at all, when very large wagers come in on any game, they tend to be noticed. The $1.3M that a man threw down on the Kansas City moneyline (-130) at Caesars in Las Vegas falls into that category. If the Chiefs win the game, the bettor stands to clear $1M even.
Some of the largest wagers placed in the entire world are on the NFL. It’s the biggest sports league in America. In December, a man placed a $3.1M wager on the Eagles to beat the Panthers. And of course, some of the largest wagers of note are those made by Mattress Mack down in Houston.
We don’t know the identity of the $1M man so why do we assume it’s a man? Check out this screen grab from the first comment under the news story and you tell me:
That’s right folks. The simple concept of moneyline vs the point spread is still elusive to some people (women mostly).
KC Chiefs Background Info
It should be noted that the Chiefs are just 7-10-1 against the spread despite owning a 16-2 win/loss record overall. The moneyline may very well be the best way to bet this game if you are liking the Chiefs to win. Even though they are just 2 point favorites, they simply don’t make a habit out of covering the spread.
The Chiefs are 9-0 straight up at home this year. Some of these games haven’t been without controversy. The refs have been roundly criticized in Chiefs games for helping them out by giving their opponents penalties which many think shouldn’t have been called. There are a variety of memes that people have created of NFL refs wearing a Chiefs logo on their uniform (see down below).
