McCarthy Out – Odds for Next Cowboys Coach
The Cowboys and Mike McCarthy failed to reach an agreement. That is how the official story is being presented. But let’s be honest – McCarthy was out after failing to make the playoffs this year, regardless of Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury.
Cowboys fans have mostly expressed pleasure in the firing. McCarthy was not without success in his 5 year tenure though. He had an overall record of 49-35 and made the playoffs four times. However, he was only able to win one post-season game.
McCarthy was chosen to take over the Cowboys 5 seasons ago after team owner Jerry Jones fired Jason Garrett. McCarthy was forced out in Green Bay just two years prior and was in the market to coach a new team. He had success in Green Bay, winning the Super Bowl in 2011.
