Bovada No Longer Available to Michigan Residents

Scott Morris | August 1, 2024
Bovada out in Michigan

In late May, the state of Michigan ordered a cease-and-desist of Bovada sportsbook (Rated A). The State of Michigan included the following reason: “Due to the unregulated and unlicensed online gaming offerings on Bovada” and went on to cite several state laws.

The sportsbook stopped accepting new clients from Michigan immediately and as of August 1st, no longer accepts any action whatsoever from Michigan residents, even from existing clients.

There is little doubt that the state felt pressure from sportsbooks operating within the state under license to make this move. There is also no doubt that these sportsbook will use a similar playbook with other states. All the usual sportsbooks operate within Michigan’s borders, including: FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetRivers, and ESPNBET.

Bovada.lv has been online since 2011 and accepts bets from all over the globe, except where prohibited by law.
