SOCCER UEFA Euros Down to Quarters
The UEFA European Championship is paring down its competitors. There were 16 teams just a few days ago, but that number gets halved by the end of Tuesday’s matches.
As the field gets smaller and smaller, odds are also changing. Here’s a look at some of the recent results, as well as the top betting lines out there…
Tightening the Brackets
Switzerland and Germany were the first two teams to win in the Round of 16, putting two of the biggest names in the quarters. Switzerland was able to get past Italy, Denmark fell to Germany.
England disposed of Slovakia, Spain ended the surprising run of Georgia.
France shut out Belgium, Portugal bounced Slovenia (penalties).
Tuesday’s games find Romania vs. The Netherlands, while Austria opposes Turkey.
The two winners Tuesday (date of this writing) round out the ‘Elite Eight,’ with each of the advancing countries needing just three wins to claim the title.
The final is Sunday, July 14th, at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.
Odds to Win
England continues to be the tepid betting favorite to win the UEFA European Championships, priced at 7-2 (+350) to prevail, according to UEFA Euros outrights. It hasn’t always looked crisp in this tournament, but the English have performed when required.
The second choice is Spain at 15-4 (+375), though the Spaniards have a huge quarterfinal test Friday against hometown Germany. Spain is a timid +165 choice, as per UEFA Euros odds.
Germany is at +185, with a draw a +210 proposition.
Those Germans and France are next on the board, the two at 9-2 (+450) to win the title. Next are the Portuguese at 15-2 (+750), the only other team under double figures in the wagering.
More to Wager
Since these UEFA Euros are one of the biggest sporting events in the world, it’s no surprise there are a number of other ways to get in on the action. Instead of betting on which will win this tourney (or an individual game), try any number of the different props wagers (Player of the Tournament is one).
Doing some homework, and with some luck, could possibly lead to a fat payout on these games
