NFL will be on Netflix for Christmas and We Have Point Spreads
If you are one of the 70 million+ Americans with Netflix in your home, the fact that the NFL has partnered with Netflix and has agreed to play this year’s two NFL games on that platform will be a convenience. For the other 280 million Americans who don’t have Netflix, it will be an absolute nuisance. And I know you are probably thinking “I will just get the free trial subscription and cancel after the games”, right? Wrong. Netflix doesn’t offer trial memberships.
Netflix Inc. is sitting on $265B in market cap value on the Nasdaq stock exchange. They have plenty of money to do whatever needs to be done to keep viewers subscribed. The only question is, will they be able to do it?
The NFL has agreed to a contract that puts at least some of the Christmas games on Netflix over the next three years. Netflix has been attacking ways to get more subscribers and maintain the ones they have amid concerns over competing streaming services and rising prices which directly translates into higher subscriber fees.
Netflix has delved into new territory recently with the live Roast of Tom Brady. This show was a massive success for the network as it was the talk of the town since it came out. Lots of raunchy jokes and cringey moments made for an excellent comedy broadcast by anyone’s standards.
NFL Christmas Games Point Spreads
Currently lines for these two games are not available at sportsbooks, so we made our own based on how the teams are shaping up this summer.
- Kansas City Chiefs (-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers – 1 p.m. ET on Netflix.
- Baltimore Ravens (Pick em’) at Houston Texans – 4:30 p.m ET on Netflix.
What do you think of our lines? Did we hit them on the head or did we miss the mark? We can see the Steelers struggling some through the season getting their QB situation worked out but still being decent enough to have a shot to almost any team at home. The Chiefs are the best team on paper and on the NFL futures board at the moment (+500 at BetOnline.ag). They should be slight favorites to defeat the Steelers on their home turf.
The Ravens will be good if they can stay healthy. They will be slightly better than an up-and-coming Houston Texans team. But since this game will be in Houston, we think a PICK is the appropriate line for the moment. Either team could win this one.
