Political Odds – Sportsbook Odds Say Putin Leaves Office by 2026
Flash back 25 years and things were looking up for Russia. They had successfully shed the murderous oppressive communist regime and were stepping into a 20th century capitalist system that included democratic elections. Relations with the west were thawing and the future was wide open. Then came Vladimir Putin.
The Russian “President” has been in power in 1999, replacing the notorious booze-hound Boris Yeltsin. Since then, it has been all Putin. To put it simply, Putin has refused to relinquish power. He once changed his title from President to Prime Minister in order to buy time so that they could rewrite the law so he could be President again, and again, and again. He has enriched himself beyond belief and it is widely believed that he is the richest man in the world, having syphoned off hundreds of billions of dollars from the Russian economy.
The Russians hold “elections” but they are for show only. The only person winning has been and always will be Vladimir Putin until he decides to leave power. Interestingly enough, according to sportsbooks, that is most likely to happen in the next 23 months.
According to sportsbook odds, Putin is most likely out sooner than later. But there is one interesting aspect of these odds as well. Even though they suggest Putin will be out in the next year or two, the odds are just about equal that he will be in power in 2030 and beyond. Have a look for yourself to see what we mean.
