Bama Still #2 to Win Championship After Nick Saban Announces Retirement
Today Nick Saban announced his retirement as a college football head coach. He brought Alabama football back to its glory days. The year before Saban arrived, the Crimson Tide went just 6-6. The previous ten year term saw three different head coaches and a combined 67-49 record. It was one of the toughest stretches in school history.
Before Saban arrived at Alabama the school had 9 national championships under its belt. With Saban they were able to add 6 more championships in his 17 year stint. Saban also had a national championship as head coach of LSU in 2003.
College football championship odds had been set ever since the completion of the 2024 championship game where Michigan easily defeated Washington. Alabama will be returning a slew of players including their star QB Jalen Milroe. So it was a bit of a shock when Saban announced his retirement this Wednesday.
Despite the announcement, Alabama odds to win it all hung tight as the #2 overall favorite.
