Key Injuries Heading into Week 14 of the 2023 NFL Season
Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season brought with it its own fair share of drama and entertainment with quite a few show-stopping performances. However, we all know what that means; the list of injuries just continues to get longer. Quite a few players were forced off the field with yet another new set of injuries. Key players missing out on games, especially around this time of the season, will surely have quite the impact on the team’s performances. Here is a roundup of just a few injuries sustained in Week 13:
- Kenny Pickett:
The Quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kenny Pickett, has been struggling quite a lot with injuries in this season. This Sunday, during the second quarter of the game against the Arizona Cardinals, he took a shot to the helmet while rushing towards the end zone. It was, however, his ankle that was the issue. He was able to walk off the field on his own with a slight limp but was ruled out soon after. He was replaced by backup Mitch Trubisky for the rest of the game. It has now been reported that the player underwent a surgical procedure for his high-ankle sprain which means he will have to miss out a few weeks which is devastating news for the Steelers. - Derek Carr:
The New Orleans Saints may be without a Quarterback for some time after Derek Carr exited the game against the Detroit Lions due to shoulder and back injuries. This was due to a huge violent hit that the player absorbed during the fourth quarter. He was carted off the field and did not return, being replaced by Jameis Winston. He is currently in concussion protocol and it is uncertain whether or not he is fit enough to return to the field yet.
- Tank Dell:
Tank Dell, wide receiver for the Houston Texans was having quite an impressive rookie season that may now have come to an end because of his recent injury. The player went down late in the first quarter of the game against the Denver Broncos after appearing to get his leg trapped on the opposition’s running back. After staying on the ground for a prolonged period of time, he was carted off the field and was later ruled out. The player appears to have fractured his fibula which may keep him sidelined indefinitely.
- Rhamondre Stevenson:
The running back for the New England Patriots suffered a right ankle injury during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was taken to the locker room for evaluation and was officially ruled out in the third quarter. It seems to be a high ankle sprain so the player will miss out a few weeks. He will take his time and won’t rush back to the field either so he can heal properly and come back stronger.
Fans are eager to see how the season unfolds considering that these injuries will surely alter the course of events for all the teams.
