Saints vs Lions Game Preview and Pick Against the Spread

Scott Morris | December 1, 2023
Chris Olave New Orleans Saints WR

The Detroit Lions will be going head to head against the New Orleans Saints for Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season on Sunday, December 3. It will be quite interesting to see both teams, with their own unique strengths, battle it out on the field.

The Lions are currently leading the NFC North with an incredible 8-3 record. They are, however, coming off of a 29-22 defeat against the Green Bay Packers.

For the Saints, they are tied with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South with a 5-6 record. They also lost 24-15 in their Week 12 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Let us see what Week 12 has to say about both the teams.

Detroit Lions – Week 12

The Lions have been doing exceptionally well in the 2023 NFL season and so are hoping that their loss against the Packers was just a one-off thing.

They had a good start to the second half of the game as running back David Montgomery finished the opening drive with a six-yard touchdown run. This led to the two-point conversion, pushing the score to 23-14. Montgomery along with Jahmr Gibbs make quite the one-two combination that has helped the team a lot on the ground.

The opposition answered back soon enough and did not let the Lions make the impact they needed. A late score on a pass from quarterback Jared Goff to wide receiver Josh Reynolds was as close as they were able to get.

Goff did finish the game with 29 of 44 passes for 332 yards but his two fumbles in the first half had already done enough damage.

The Lions have all the potential of winning and are well prepared to make just the comeback after their recent setback in the past week.

New Orleans Saints

The struggle is real for the Saints as they are finding getting into the end zone quite difficult this season. Their defeat against the Falcons was their second consecutive loss and they are hoping to bounce back from that and gain some momentum.

Wide receiver Chris Olave was doing quite well early on in the game when he had to exit the field because of a concussion. He had still managed seven catches from nine targets for 114 yards. Injuries have taken down many Saints players so far but it is the top receiver Olave’s injury that may do the most damage.

At the defense, safety Tyrann Mathieu tried his best to overpower the opposition’s quarterback to somehow keep the Saints in the game.

Apart from them, they also have their quarterback Derek Carr on the roster who has 10 touchdowns and 5 interceptions up till now in the season. Running back Alvin Kamara is also quite the threat in the passing game.

The Saints now have three straight home games and hopefully they will take advantage of the opportunity to get a few more wins in their record.

Prediction for Week 12

Both the Detroit Lions and the New Orleans Saints could use a win at the moment; the Saints more than the Lions. The spread is currently resting at DET -4.5 at BetUS.com, where you can get a 125% signup bonus by using promo code SBA125. A full 80% of the tickets and handle are both on Detroit. It seems that no one believes in the Saints. SBA has racked some sharp money on New Orleans and we think they will put up a good fight in this game. It is true that the Lions are the superior team. But this is sort of a last stand for the Saints and they will pull out all the stops. Getting +4.5 at home is our pick.
