Commanders vs Dolphins Preview and Free Pick

Scott Morris | November 30, 2023
Dolphins at Washington preview

The Miami Dolphins are all set to go against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, December 3. Both teams, with their unique capabilities and recent challenges, see this game as an opportunity to assert dominance and strengthen their positions in their respective divisions. The teams met last in 2019 when the Commanders won 17-16. It will be interesting to see what has changed since then.

The Dolphins stand at first place in the AFC East with an incredible 8-3 record. They are coming off of a 34-13 victory against the New York Jets.

On the contrary, the Commanders are 4-8 so far in the season, standing at the very bottom of the NFC East. Their most recent defeat, 45-10 against the Dallas Cowboys, was their third straight loss.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are currently leading the AFC East and don’t plan on stepping back anytime soon. Excellent on the ground and through the air, they are the second highest scoring team in the NFL, with 30.8 points per game.

In the game against the Jets, they opened the scoring quite late in the first quarter on a 38-yard field goal from Jason Sanders but quickly made it 10-0 halfway through the second one, ultimately getting the victory.

The offense did exceptionally well, leaving no room for the Jets to catch up. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill got a touchdown and also turned 12 targets into 102 yards on nine receptions. Fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle also managed 114 yards on eight receptions from eight targets.

Their defense also did pretty good. Linebacker Jaelan Phillips registered a sack as well as a pair of tackles and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins wasn’t any far behind, recording two sacks.

The Dolphins have gained just the momentum they were looking for and, in the upcoming week, will continue to do what they do best; win.

Washington Commanders

Sam Howell CommandersThe Commanders are dead last in the NFC East and are desperate for a win, having lost their last three straight games. The team tried their best to overpower the Cowboys in their last game but their efforts were just not enough.

Placekicker Joey Slye finally managed to get the Commanders on the board in the second quarter with a 43-yard field goal when the opposition went for a touchdown and notched the score up to 14-3.

Quarterback Sam Howell played quite the game, finishing with 28 of 44 passes for 300 yards as well as a touchdown on the ground. He put up a very strong fight, making it through despite having been sacked four times.

The Commanders will have their bye week right after their upcoming game so they must win this if they want to make the situation any better.

Prediction for Week 13

As capable and skilled as both the teams are, there aren’t many questions about who will win. The Miami Dolphins will most certainly take the win home for this one. The Washington Commanders are a mess and it doesn’t look like they will be able to keep up with what the Dolphins have in store. But, who will be able to cover the spread? Miami is currently -9.5 points at SportsBetting.ag. SBA has tracking sharp action coming in on Miami. We are going to agree with that sharp action and take Miami for a small play here.
