Key Injuries Entering Week 5 of the 2023 NFL Season

Scott Morris | October 5, 2023
NFL Injuery report week 5

As interesting as week 4 was, with it, came another huge wave of injuries. Key players were knocked off the field one after the other, creating issues for the teams during the match as well as in the near future. Here are a few big names that went down during the Week 4 games:

  •         Justin Herbert:

The Los Angeles Chargers’ quarterback fractured the middle finger of his non-throwing hand during the game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The injury isn’t serious as per the player and he isn’t expected to miss any of the upcoming games. He will most likely be out on the field for Week 5.

  •         Davante Adams:

The wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders faced a shoulder injury during their third drive against the Chargers. After walking to the locker room on his own, the player did return to the game later on but it wasn’t of much help since the Raiders faced defeat that night. It was reported after the game that his shoulder wasn’t feeling the greatest and may create issues in the upcoming weeks.

  •         Javonte Williams:

The running back for the Denver Broncos, Javonte Williams, left the game against the Chicago Bears due to a hip injury. However, it has now been reported that he only injured his hip flexor that means he will not have to sit out many games. This is good news for the player since this is his redemption tour after a serious knee injury in 2022.

  •         Tee Higgins:

The Cincinnati Bengals player had just two catches for 19 yards in the game against the Tennessee Titans when he had to leave the field due to an injury to his rib. It has now been confirmed that he is indeed suffering from a rib fracture and is expected to sit out quite a few games in the season.

  •         Kenny Pickett:

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback faced a knee injury in the third quarter of the game against the Houston Texans. He was helped off the field and was ruled out shortly after. He seems to have suffered from a bone bruise in his knee and will, hopefully, be able to return to the field soon. The Steelers haven’t ruled him out for Sunday yet but may hold him out for a while for a better recovery. Kenny says he will be on the field however.

  •         Mike Evans:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers player had managed to secure three passes for 40 yards in the game against the New Orleans Saints before suffering from a hamstring injury. He was ruled out soon afterward and it is still uncertain whether or not the injury is serious enough to make the wide receiver miss the upcoming games.

  •       Jimmy Garoppolo:

The Raiders signal caller Garoppolo (concussion) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday’s practice. He is listed as questionable for this weekend but is expected to play by many.

These are just a few of the many players that were forced off the field during their Week 4 games and a few may even miss out on upcoming games. As heartbreaking as it is to not be able to see big names on the field for the 2023 NFL season, it will only keep getting more amusing.
