Kansas City Chiefs Season Preview and Predictions
In the 2022 season, the Kansas City Chiefs did what they do best, win. Their season consisted of winning almost all of their games except a few losses right in the beginning. Their 14-3 record in the regular season managed to secure the No.1 seed. They showed the football world exactly why they are one of the elite in the league.
A close win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Wild Card Round and barely escaping the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game, the Super Bowl 57 was almost theirs. Their final game against the Philadelphia Eagles was tied 35-35 with just over five minutes remaining when Harrison Butker hit a 27-yard field goal with the help of Patrick Mahomes’ 26-yard scramble. Kansas City was taking home the title for the second time in just four seasons.
The main aim of the Chiefs for the 2023 offseason was to maintain the roster and its performance. As great as the team was, General manager Brett Veach still had a lot of work to do.
In free agency, they made quite a few wise decisions. Their biggest move was to let Orlando Brown Jr. sign with the Cincinnati Bengals and bring in offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor. He is known to be one of the better pass protectors on the right side and will help the team tremendously. They also brought in Donovan Smith alongside Taylor. Another addition from free agency was edge rusher Charles Omenihu but before the season starts, he needs to do something about his domestic violence charges from January.
One of the best moves in free agency may have been cutting Frank Clark. Clark wasn’t playing very well and his 2023 cap number was going to be a whopping $28.6 million, so it made sense to let go. They also had to say goodbye to JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman but they looked to take advantage of the draft to replace them.
2023 Draft
The 2023 NFL Draft was also a success for the Chiefs. Their first round edge defender Felix Anudike-Uzomah made the headlines for being an intriguing pick by the team. Same was the case with BJ Thompson. Apart from this, the one player that caught the most attention in the draft was Rashee Rice. The man brings just the kind of agility and speed the roster was looking for. He is quite competitive and will fit in perfectly with the rest.
The team needs to work on their wide receiver development and someone other than Travis Kelce has to be the pass-catcher for the team.
With the 2023 season closer than ever, the Kansas City Chiefs seem more than just prepared. As long as they have Mahomes, they will always have a shot at the Super Bowl. They did quite a good job at maintaining the roster and what it has to offer. Fans expect nothing less than another victory this year as well.
2023 KC Chiefs Futures & Prediction
Odds by BetUS.com
Division -170
Conference +350
Super Bowl +600
Total Wins 11.5 (Over -130)
Analysis: The Chiefs are a good football team and everyone knows it. Are they good enough to win back to back Super Bowls? (Something hasn’t been done in twenty years). I will say yes they are good enough to do exactly that. The rest of the field is decent but no one team strikes fear into the heart of their opponent like the Chiefs. Over 11.5 wins is a solid bet as well.
