MLB Cy Young Award Odds Update
The All-star break is here and what better time to recount the season and see where we are in the hunt for the most prestigious award in pitching? There are some clear front runners and with just 2/5 of the regular season left, they wil most likely take the prize. However, we have seen plenty of front-runners flounder over the late stretch.
In the AL it really is between Tampa’s Shane McClanahan and Houston’s Justin Verlander. McClanahan has the slightly better ERA (1.71 to Verlander’s 1.89) but Verlander has the better record (12-3) vs Shane’s (10-3). Both pitcher’s teams are fighting hard to get their team into the post-season.

National League
There is one clear frontrunner in the National League. Miami’s Sandy Alcantara has been lights out in 2022. His ERA is 1.76 and his record is 9-4. That record would be better if he played on a better team.
Milwaukee’s Corbin Burnes is having a great season as well. He has an ERA of 2.14 but his record is just 7-4. A lot can change between now and the end of the season however.
I know it is hard to consider a player as good as Clayton Kershaw a longshot pick but at +6600 odds but that is where we find ourselves. He is 7-2 with a very healthy 2.13 ERA. His team is the best in the conference and he could easily go on to win four or five more games.
Kershaw is the starter in the All-Star game and a sentimental favorite. These are both factors to consider when plunking your money down on a futures bet. Kershaw is a good long-shot wager at this point.
