2023 Super Bowl Favorites

Super Bowl futures 2023

It’s almost that time of year when the sports world slows for a bit. The NBA Finals begin soon and the Stanley Cup Finals won’t be far behind. Then, the summer comes and fans and bettors alike all anticipate the coming NFL season.

The odds to win Super Bowl LVII have settled down somewhat now that teams are heading into OTAs and minicamps. Some quarterback movement has seen the Super Bowl odds adjust a bit. A few trades have also had an impact. Here’s what the market for the 2023 Super Bowl looks like at the moment.

Bills Remain on Top

Buffalo brings back the core of both its offense and the NFL’s top defense from last year. That’s why they were installed as the initial Super Bowl favorite. Buffalo, which many believe would have beaten Cincinnati and the LA Rams if they had beaten Kansas City, remains the overall betting favorite at +700.

Brady Puts Bucs Back in Race

Bucs QB Tom Brady retired after last season and then decided to un-retire. Tampa Bay was sitting at +2200 to win next year’s Super Bowl, but upon Brady’s announcement dropped all the way down to +700.

Brady will have his top two receivers – Mike Evans and Chris Godwin – back and healthy. Tampa Bay plays in a soft division and they will likely have the easier road to the NFC title. The Bucs are back and right in the thick of the Super Bowl race. They are currently listed at +750.

Chiefs Fall after Trade

Kansas City was right up there with Buffalo upon the opening of the Super Bowl LVII odds. That all changed when the Chiefs decided to trade WR Tyreek Hill to Miami. Kansas City needed cap room and trading Hill opened up the payroll.

It also led to the Chiefs dropping on the betting board. Kansas City fell to +1000 upon the trade’s announcement. The Chiefs division rivals were also working on getting better, which was another factor contributing to the changing odds. Denver traded for QB Russell Wilson, which helped the Broncos go from +2500 to +1600. Kansas City now sits third on the board at +900.

Repeat?

There hasn’t been a repeat Super Bowl champion since the New England Patriots in the early 2000s. The Rams are fresh off of their Lombardi Trophy winning season and return QB Matthew Stafford, a highly efficient offense, and one of the NFL’s best defenses.

Los Angeles let LB Von Miller go but picked up Bobby Wagner and they added another weapon for Stafford – WR Allen Robinson. They will have all the makings of another Super Bowl title. They are given +1200 odds to win right now at top rated sportsbooks.

Best of the Rest

Green Bay elected not to bring back WR Davante Adams. Oddsmakers didn’t care because QB Aaron Rodgers is returning. He is the key reason why the Packers are listed at +1100.

Cleveland watched as its odds improved from +3000 to +1800 right after they traded for QB Deshaun Watson. The Browns are now favored to win the AFC North and Watson is among the favorites for the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year.  The Browns remain at +1800 just below the previously mentioned Broncos, the LA Chargers, and the Dallas Cowboys. All three teams are listed at +1600.
