Trends Say You Should Bet These Four Games for NFL Week 18

Scott Morris | January 5, 2022
Week 18 NFL Picks

The regular season is wrapping up and there is a lot on the line in the final week. In fact, there is only one team who will be considering resting players in preparation for the playoffs because they can neither hurt nor help themselves this weekend. We have excluded that team from the potential picks for this week. That team, by the way is the Green Bay Packers. They may play starters some but don’t be surprised if they yank them.

Denver vs Kansas City
Spread KC -10.5 at BetUS.com

The Chiefs need this win for a shot at the number one seed and to avoid dropping lower in the playoff ranking. Denver is out of the playoffs but would love to hand the Chiefs a sh-t sandwich to munch on.

Kansas City is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games
Kansas City is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games
Kansas City is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
Kansas City is 19-5 SU in its last 24 games on the road
Kansas City is 10-2 ATS in its last 12 games when playing Denver
Kansas City is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Denver
Kansas City is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games when playing on the road against Denver
Kansas City is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing on the road against Denver

Denver is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games
Denver is 1-4 SU in its last 5 games

The trends say to take the road double digit favorites here and expect to see Mahomes and his Chiefs in playoff form as they look to pound the Broncos into oblivion.

Houston vs. Tennessee
Spread: Tennessee -11 (EV) at BetUS.com

The bottom line here is if Tennessee wins they have a first round by week in the playoffs. This is the most coveted position to be in and they will play hard to get it.

The Texans will be playing for the proverbial pride and to try and spoil Tennessee’s good times. The trends coming into this matchup seem to support exactly that:

Houston is 15-6 ATS in its last 21 games when playing Tennessee
Houston is 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games when playing at home against Tennessee
Houston is 7-2 SU in its last 9 games when playing at home against Tennessee

It seems hard to take such a bad team against such a good one but the trends are what they are. Take the Texans and cross your fingers.

Atlanta vs New Orleans
Spread: New Orleans -4 at BetOnline

This is an old rivalry game and should be pretty hard fought. The Saints are playing for a spot in the playoffs. If they win and the 49ers lose then they are in.

Both of these teams have been very erratic this year. Atlanta has been erratic moistly because of inconsistent play from their starters. New Orleans has been inconsistent because of injuries.

New Orleans is 17-6 ATS in its last 23 games on the road
New Orleans is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games when playing Atlanta
New Orleans is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games when playing Atlanta
New Orleans is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Atlanta
New Orleans is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Atlanta

Atlanta is 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 games
Atlanta is 7-14 SU in its last 21 games
Atlanta is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 games at home
Atlanta is 2-7 SU in its last 9 games at home

Trends are pretty cut and dry here. They are fully suggesting that a play on the Saints to win and cover is the way to go.

Las Vegas vs L.A. Chargers
Spread: Chargers -3 at BetOnline

This is the ultimate game for the NFL fan. Its a “win and you’re in” scenario. Both teams will be pulling out all the stops for a victory.

LA Chargers are 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games on the road
LA Chargers are 6-3 SU in its last 9 games on the road
LA Chargers are 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games when playing Las Vegas
LA Chargers are 6-3 SU in its last 9 games when playing Las Vegas
LA Chargers are 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Las Vegas
LA Chargers are 12-5 SU in its last 17 games when playing on the road against Las Vegas

Las Vegas is 3-6 ATS in its last 9 games
Las Vegas is 4-2 SU in its last 6 games
Las Vegas is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games at home
Las Vegas is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games at home

Its pretty clear and concise that the trends support a Chargers win and cover. The bolts are generally accepted as the better team by the fans and media alike.
