Trends Say to Bet These College Football Picks for Week 12
In our trends betting picks series of articles, we weed through all the games and isolate the ones where the trends all line up perfectly. If there are conflicting or inconsistent trend data then we take a hard pass.
Trends shouldn’t be the only form of handicapping a sports bettor should practice. But they can definitely be valuable when used properly.
In this article we have isolated two games for this weekend’s college football games. Last week’s trend plays went 2-1 against the spread.
Iowa vs Illinois
Iowa is ranked #18 in the country and is 8-2 straight up. They are facing an Illinois squad that has been gutted by injuries this season but has still played admirably. Iowa is -13 points at sbaodds.com
- Iowa is 11-5 ATS in its last 16 games
- Iowa is 14-2 SU in its last 16 games
- Iowa is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games at home
- Iowa is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games at home
- Iowa is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Illinois
- Iowa is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Illinois
- Iowa is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing at home against Illinois
- Iowa is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Illinois
Its pretty clear by all these trends that Iowa minus the points is the play here. Bet it now at a top rated sportsbook
Alabama vs Arkansas
Alabama is hosting Arkansas and is favored by 21 points. This seems like a lot of points to lay to a team with a winning record but it should be noted Arkansas got totally wiped out at Georgia back in October 37-0. They then lost a heartbreaker at Mississippi by one point. I like Arkansas as a team and really like their big QB but the trends say the safe bet is Bama minus the points.
- Alabama is 5-2 ATS in its last 7 games
- Alabama is 23-1 SU in its last 24 games
- Alabama is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games at home
- Alabama is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games at home
- Alabama is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing Arkansas
- Alabama is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing at home against Arkansas
- Alabama is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games when playing at home against Arkansas
- Arkansas is 1-4-1 ATS in its last 6 games
These are the only two games on the board which didn’t have conflicting trend data. This is the time of year we start paying more attention to trend data because most of the games have been played and consequently the information is fresher.
