Florida vs Georgia Free Pick

This Saturday at 3:30 pm EST the number one team in the land will face the Gators of Florida at the “the Swamp”. This is a conference and intrastate rivalry which fans and bettors look forward to, regardless of record.

Georgia Bulldogs

The Dawgs are 7-0 and 5-2 against the spread. They have essentially beat the crap out of every team they played this year except for Clemson whom they defeated 10-3. Clemson was actually favored by four points in that game.

They score 38+ points per game on offense and allow just 6.57 PPG. They are clearly the best team in the country.

Florida Gators

The Gators started good enough. They were 2-0 and then lost to the then number one team in the nation (Alabama) by only two points. They went on to lose two of their next four games (Kentucky & LSU).

They are 3-4 against the spread. They score 34 PPG but allow a whopping 21 PPG. In the SEC that is entirely too many points.

Head to Head

Georgia owns the slight advantage in head to head competition going 6-4 in the last 10 against Florida. The Dawgs are also 5-4-1 ATS in those same ten games. The Dawgs will be looking for some payback for last years beating they received by the Gators (44-28)

There is this meme going around which shows that every time the Atlanta Braves have made it to the World Series, the Gators have beat the Bulldogs. This is a coincidence which may have helped sway the public to throw down their hard earned money on the Gators at home getting the points because some sportsbooks are reporting that as much as 85% of their action on this game is on Florida.

Florida’s defense can’t stop anyone and allow a ridiculous 250+ yards per game rushing. That is exactly how Georgia will attack them. It’s RB by committee here and it will be an all out assault on the ground which will wear them Gators down and in the second half the scoring will become more frequent for the Dawgs.

I know the Gators almost beat Alabama not long ago but they (and I) haven’t seen a team nearly as good as Georgia all year. They are simply on a different level. I’ll go against the public and lay the points. I may buy the half just in case it lands on 14 even but I have a feeling Georgia can really put a hurtin’ on Florida here.
