5 NCAA Team Season Win Totals to Bet Right Now
Believe it or not, the 2021 college football season is less than 48 hours away. Five games are on tap for this Saturday before things really take off over the course of next week. Before it gets underway, here are five NCAA team season win totals to bet right now.
The first game goes at 1 pm EST the day after tomorrow so that pick is time sensitive. Make sure to bookmark our site for totally free picks and angles all season long.
ILLINOIS (OVER 3.5, -135)
Out with Lovie Smith, in with former Big Ten coach Bret Bielema. One thing Bielema has always done is win in the Big Ten. He will inherit a team with 13 returning starters including veteran senior quarterback Brandon Peters. There are nonconference games with UTSA and Charlotte – both at home – on the schedule and the Illini have won at least two Big Ten games in six of the last seven seasons.
An upset – if you can call it that – of Nebraska at home this Thursday night would set the tone. Oh, and Bielema excels in season openers. He is 11-1 in season-opening games as a head coach. Don’t forget. Nebraska and head coach Scott Frost are under NCAA investigation and Frost is squarely on the hot seat. A win in the season open almost assures Illinois to go Over 3.5.
NEVADA (OVER 7.5, 120)
Head coach Jay Norvell returns 18 starters – nine each on offense and defense – as the Wolf Pack heads into the 2021 season as one of the favorites to win the Mountain West conference. With veteran Carson Strong back at quarterback, the Wolf Pack Air Raid offense should shine in 2021. Nevada ranked 12th in passing offense in 2020 and should only get better this season.
With their win total pegged at 7.5, lock this one in now. Nevada plays at Cal and Kansas State, two games against Power 5 schools. Don’t be surprised if the Wolf Pack pulls an upset in one or both games. The biggest test will come in Week 4 when Nevada travels to Mountain West Conference power Boise State. With a big win or two early, the Wolf Pack could surpass this win total by early November.
BOSTON COLLEGE (OVER 7, -140)
BC secured a winning season last year going 6-5 in head coach Jeff Hafley’s first season. Can he guide the Eagles to eight wins in 2021? Absolutely. Hafley is the guy that turned around Ohio State’s defense in 2019. He’ll do the same in Year 2 at Boston College.
The offense is outstanding with QB Phil Jurkovec (2,558 yards, 17 TDs in 2020) and All-ACC WR Zay Flowers (56 rec., 892 yds., 9 TDs). All five starters on the offensive line are back and nine total on an offense that ranked 24th in the nation in passing last season.
Then, there’s the schedule. BC should be looking at 3-0 – Colgate, UMass, and Temple – before hosting Missouri. They do play at Clemson and at Louisville, but the Eagles beat the Cardinals last season. BC gets NC State, Virginia Tech, and Florida State all at home. Three of their last four games are at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill and one of those is likely to push BC Over 7 wins for the season.
GEORGIA TECH (UNDER 4.5, +110)
Georgia Tech fans are probably wishing for Paul Johnson and the old triple option attack right about now. Head coach Geoff Collins 6-16 overall in two seasons winning even four this season will be a chore. The Yellow Jackets are still transforming the offense from Johnson’s option to Collins’ spread. Quarterback Jeff Sims should be better in 2021. He had 25 turnovers last season as a freshman.
The bigger problem for Collins and Georgia Tech is the schedule. The Yellow Jackets play five teams with a legitimate shot at making the College Football Playoff. They play at Clemson, face North Carolina in Atlanta, and then play at Miami and at Notre Dame. Then, don’t forget the year-end rivalry game with Georgia.
They start the season at home with Northern Illinois and FCS Kennesaw State. If they can start the season 2-0, they may be able to find another two victories among Pitt, Duke, and Virginia. Winning all three isn’t likely making the Under 4.5 the way to go.
COLORADO (UNDER 4.5, -105)
Wait…didn’t Colorado go 4-2 last year? Yes, they did and head coach Karl Dorrell won the Pac-12 Coach of the Year award as a result. The big reason why the Buffaloes were able to have some success was due to a relatively easy schedule. In 2021, the schedule gods were not so nice.
After what should be a win over FCS Northern Colorado, the Buffs have one of the most difficult schedules in the FBS. They will play Texas A&M in Denver and then host Minnesota. Colorado plays at Oregon and at Utah while getting USC and Washington at home. Of the remaining games, it’s likely Colorado can beat Arizona and Oregon State at home, but even a fourth win is a stretch. Getting to five just isn’t happening.
