Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears Free Pick
Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM ET the Packers will be hosting the Chicago Bears. The Packers are -4.5 points on the spread and the total is 41 points. Public betting at top ranked sportsbooks is about even on both the spread and the total at this point.
Both coaches are listed on the odds for Coach of the Year. This is because both coaches have done an admirable job. The Packers are sitting pretty at the top of their division with a three game lead and only three games left. The Bears, on the other hand, barely have a winning record and will have to fight it out for one of the wild card spots.
The Packers will look to put a better performance on the field this week than last when they played the Redskins and failed to keep their foot on the necks of the opponent. The Redskins were able to score some points and get a backdoor cover for Redskins backers. Green Bay will want to get ahead on Chicago and not let up this time. I assure this is what the coaching staff is saying among themselves all week.
The Bears are coming off a convincing win against the Cowboys, one in which they were three points dogs and won outright by a TD. They were never in danger of losing that game and the final score is not indicative of how the game actually went. The Bears know that they are fighting for their playoff lives. The question is, do they have the ability to pull out at least two wins in their last three games? This win would be huge as it is against division leader and rival Packers.
The Bears are really just a mediocre team on paper. But, they have won three in a row and are streaking. Streaking teams are tough to bet against.
The Pack are on a two game winning roll. They last lost to arguably the best team in the NFC, the S.F. 49ers. The Packers only average three more points on offense than they allow on defense. This is not a dominant team. It is one that is able to pull off wins with a QB who gets it done.
Trends
- Green Bay is 13-5 ATS in its last 18 games when playing Chicago
- Green Bay is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games when playing Chicago
- Green Bay is 9-2 SU in its last 11 games when playing at home against Chicago
We have a division rival who is on a three game win streak and 11 days rest versus a team who covers against them more times than not. Tough pick I know. This is why I am taking the UNDER 41 points. The weather in Green Bay will be brutally cold. Throwing and catching get a little tougher. Look for both teams to run the ball a bunch. If I had to pick the side I would say go with what you know, take the Pack minus the points but bet the Under as well. Good luck.
