Rams vs 49ers Betting Preview

Scott Morris | October 9, 2019
Rams Niners Pick

The San Francisco 49ers, straight off their beat down of Cleveland, head to L.A. to do battle with the Rams. The Rams are 3-2 this season and ‘Niners are 4-0. So, why are the Rams favored by 3 points?

The public still believes in the Rams. They were 13-3 last year in the regular season and made it to the Super Bowl. They have most of the same players. The loss to the Bucs appears to have been a fluke day when the Bucs were hitting on all cylinders. The loss to the Seahawks last week was by one point and without some bad officiating would have been a win.

The 49ers are good. They have proved that this year. But, they haven’t really beaten a good team. One team they did beat, however, was the Buccaneers. Food for thought.

The Rams will be trying desperately to get their ground game going. They just cannot seem to do it with Todd Gurley for some reason. They are averaging only 97 yards rushing per game as a team. The Niners are averaging 200 rushing YPG!

Trends

LA Rams are 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games

LA Rams are 3-5-2 ATS in its last 10 games at home

San Francisco is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against LA Rams

The trends seem to point to a San Francisco cover. I am looking more at the Over/Under. The point total is 50.5 points. The Rams will be spending a lot of time running the ball and trying to chip away at the 49ers top-ranked rush defense (81 YPG allowed). To me this will result in a lot of clock running and a lot of punting.

Eventually Gurley will break out but there will be some tough sledding in the mean time. Both teams will be running the ball and that makes me want to take Under 50.5 points. Bet Now at highly ranked sportsbook
