This weekend:
The Los Angeles Rams Vs The New Orleans Saints
(Sunday, January 20th at 3:05 PM ET)
This should be a higher scoring game than the two priors for six(6) main reasons.
But who wins, and will it be enough to get near the total?
I. a) Only 34 points were scored when the Saints beat the Eagles. But…..The Eagles have had trouble running the ball since they lost Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement (Philly also lost a pro bowl lineman early in the game.). They only rushed for 6 yards in the 2nd half, making them easy to defend.
b) Only 52 points were scored when the Rams beat the Cowboys. But…. The Rams scored 30 points against a very good Cowboy defense. The Cowboys offense doesn’t have nearly as many weapons as the Saints.
II. a) The New Orleans running tandem of Kamara and Ingram are arguably the best in the league, especially catching the ball out of the backfield. This may be important, because Brees has not been as accurate lately throwing long.
b) The Rams Todd Gurley II, is one of the best in the NFL, but there is a significant drop-off with him out of the lineup. A good running day for Gurley = a balanced attack for LA.
III. Both teams have above average kickers.
IV. Although obvious, the game is being played indoors.
V. The average point total for games played in Mercedes Benz Stadium has been 60. That includes contests against inferior offenses, and a few games when the Saints sat on big leads. The Rams had the 2nd most total yards in the league this season.
VI. Throw in a few broken plays, and there will either be lots of scoring, or stalled offensive drives.
We’ve given you six(6) wins in a row for free.
