West Virginia’s Sports Betting App Expecting Major Action Today
You may have heard that West Virginia is one the state’s now allowing sports bets. Now, residents of the Mountaineer state can bet in person at one of several licensed sportsbook locations: Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, Wheeling Island, FanDuel Sportsbook inside The Greenbrier or Mardi Gras Casino & Resort. Residents can also bet online using a brand new app. The app can be found by going to the website betlucky.com
At 5:15 pm EST tonight West Virginia will be taking on Syracuse in the Camping World Bowl. The Mountaineers were favored by 7.5 points when the game opened. Since that time the star WVU QB Will Grier announced he would forgo this bowl game in order to prepare for the NFL draft. The line instantly came down to WEST Va. -1 and has since moved to Syracuse -3. Still, the home faithful with their newly installed betting apps are poised to give the Mountaineers a shot.
A guy I went to school, who is a native of West Virginia and currently lives in Vegas, told me to load up on Syracuse immediately after the QB announced he was sitting out. I may have thrown a few shekels on it. Apparently, the public is thinking the same way. Approximately 74% of the public money is on Syracuse. 72% of the tickets at offshore sportsbooks are on Syracuse as well.
The total also came down from 74 points to 67 points. The public seems to love the over still as 75% of tickets and 76% of the money is on the Over. If you were a pure contrarian player, you would be eyeing the Under and West Virginia as possible plays today.
It is pointless to try to download the app unless you are in West Virginia. They have IP Geo tracking and access to the app is blocked unless you are in West Virginia. No word yet if it is downloadable via a proxy service. However, we can assure you that using a masks or proxy is in violation of their terms and could land you in hot water.
