Solid Prop Play: Carlos Hyde Rushing OVER 72.5 Yards
Betting NFL props is always a good way to change the pace from always betting the moneyline, point spread or point totals. Props are independent of the outcome of games and how many points are scored, as they are based on the performance of individual players in the game.
The season has been one to forget for the San Francisco 49ers. If it were not for the Cleveland Browns, the 49ers would be the league’s worst team. At 1-12, San Francisco has nothing to look forward to other than the NFL Draft.
The only real bright spot this season for San Francisco has been running back Carlos Hyde. His running prowess this season has given the team a small hope they can use him to build the offense around in the coming years.
On Sunday, the 49ers face the Atlanta Falcons and odds makers have a prop for Hyde. The over/under for rushing yards for the 49ers running back is 72.5.
The Atlanta defense is allowing 101.1 yards per game on the ground through 13 games and giving up close to 4 yards per carry. Last week Hyde ran roughshod over the New York Jets defense to the tune of 193 yards.
The chances are he will continue his fine play against the Atlanta defense, as the offense has done little else this season. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick is hot and cold during the course of a game, but Hyde seems to always be ready to get the team the necessary yardage.
The fine play of Hyde comes even though opposing defenses are playing the run knowing the passing attack for the 49ers is so anemic.
Hyde has averaged 6.2 yards per carry during his past 4 games accumulating 436 yards on the ground in those same 4 games.
If the 49ers can stay away from falling behind early Hyde could easily surpass the 72.5-yard plateau for the over/under prop.
The OVER on 72.5 yards is averaging odds of -125 (4 to 5) on top sportsbooks.
