Rodgers Tops MVP Futures, Elliott and Wentz Top Rookie Futures
Many had thought Aaron Rodgers’ best days were behind him, but it appears those doubters spoke too soon. His start for his standards to the 2016 season was mediocre, but last week he passed for 4 touchdowns with no interceptions.
That one reminder of how good he really is was enough for odds makers to move him into the favorite spot at +450 to win the MVP in the NFL.
Rodgers leads two other quarterbacks by a slim margin, as Cam Newton and Ben Roethlisberger are each sitting at +600.
Newton’s stats are not what they were last season after three games, but his offensive line is not what it was last season. Big Ben is putting up big yards in his starts, but was routed by the Eagles last week and has four picks in just three games.
One name that is creeping up the board for MVP is Carson Wentz. No rookie in the NFL has ever won MVP, but the Eagles quarterback has 5 touchdown passes with no picks in this three starts.
At the start of the season, Wentz was +30000 but already has dropped to +3300.
Speaking of Wentz, he was caught by Ezekiel Elliott the Dallas running back in the Rookie of the Year futures. After strong play by Elliott in two straight wins by Dallas, the running back for the Cowboys is now tied with Wentz as co-favorites to win the award at +175.
Elliott had his first 100-yard rushing game of his career in Dallas’ Week 3 win over Chicago. The running back for Dallas has 223 yards rushing with a per carry average of 4.4 in his past two games.
Wentz has carried the Eagles offense this season to three wins. The rookie as mentioned before has five touchdown passes and zero interceptions. His completion percentage has consistently climbed each week over the first three weeks.
