St. Joseph’s vs Oregon: Line, Points Totals, Trends

Scott Morris | March 20, 2016

When one hears about the Oregon Ducks thoughts go to former Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and the high-potent offense on the gridiron. However, on the hard court, the Ducks are making some big noise out west.

On Sunday night in the West Regional, No. 1 seeded Oregon will face the No. 8 seeded St. Joseph Hawks at 9:40 p.m. ET.

The winner of this game will play Duke the No. 4 seed.

The line on this game opened with Oregon favored by 6 points with the point total at 157. The total has remained the same, while the Ducks are now 6.5-point chalk. For those that like to bet the half, the Ducks are 3.5-point favorites.

Oregon beat Holy Cross in its opening game of the tournament 91-52, covering as 22.5-point chalk. The 143 points cashed OVER the total of 133.5.

Oregon is 9-0 SU and 6-3 ATS over its past 9 games played. The Ducks have covered in three straight as well as six of their past seven.

In 17 games as a favorite by single digits, Oregon is 10-7 ATS.

St. Joe’s before Friday night in a win over Cincinnati 78-76, had not won a tournament game in 12 years.

St. Joe’s covered as 3.5-point dogs on Friday against the Bearcats.

Cincinnati appeared the tie the score at the final buzzer on an Octavius Ellis dunk. However, following a video review, the referees waved the dunk off and the win went to St. Joe’s.

This season as an underdog, St. Joe’s has been highly profitable with a record of 9-2 SU and 9-1-1 ATS. Those numbers are certainly something to pay attention to.

The point total is close even for Oregon with 17 games cashing UNDER and 15 games OVER. However, the OVER for the Ducks has cashed in three straight.

For St. Joseph’s the OVER has cashed in 12 of its past 14 games and in 20 of its 34 games overall.
