Super Bowl Betting Angles to Consider

Scott Morris | February 1, 2016

Super Bowl 50 is quickly approaching and before you place your online bet it is worth looking at the dozens of different angles to take, when it comes to betting on the big game.

  • Denver has seen the UNDER cash in 11 of 18 games this season, which includes two straight in the postseason.
  • Denver has been victorious in 10 consecutive road games in California while covering each of the 10 with the UNDER cashing in 7 of the 10.
  • There have been 11 prior Super Bowls played in California but this is the first in 13 years. Favorites are 7-4 straight up and against the spread in theses 11 games while the OVER is 9-1.
  • Carolina is 13-6-1 against AFC teams since 2011 when Cam Newton the signal caller. Over that stretch, the Panthers played Denver just once and Denver won 36-14.
  • Cam Newton has rushed an average of 8.5 times each game with a high of 14 back at Jacksonville during Week 1.
  • Newton has completed fewer than 21 passes in 15 of 18 games during the season.
  • Carolina’s defense has given up 19.3 points per game overall and just 16.3 the past three games.
  • Peyton Manning the quarterback for Denver has thrown 17 passes for interceptions. Carolina has 24 interceptions this season, which led the NFL.
  • The defense for Denver was one of the league’s most consistent all year. The Broncos allowed 18.2 points a game when at home and 18.5 per game on the road.
  • The underdog has covered the Super Bowl 20 times in 49 prior games, while 13 of the 20 the dog won outright.
  • Super Bowl 50 is the first Super Bowl that will feature two former No. 1 picks in the NFL draft playing against one another.
  • In the past 10 Super Bowl, only twice has the NFC been favored and is 1-1 during the games. Over the past 20 years, the NFC has had a record of 4-2 SU and 1-3-2 ATS as a favorite.
  • Denver this season had been the underdog in four games with a record of 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS in those four games. Its only loss was 34-27 to Pittsburgh during Week 15, but the Broncos still covered as a 7.5-point dog.
