Look Out For a Pair of Small Conference Teams in the Bowls
Some of the best value for betting on college football is found in the small mid-major conference. Here is a pair of teams to watch out for as they will give their bigger opposition a tough time in their bowl games.
Peach Bowl – Florida State (-7) vs. Houston
The Houston Cougars have had a spectacular 2015 season. Houston quarterback Greg Ward Jr., had he been playing for a Power 5 conference, may have contended for the Heisman.
Houston on the season was 12-1. The Cougars lost to Connecticut in a game in which Ward did not play.
In this game against Florida State, the Cougars will be far from a pushover. They have defeated teams such as Louisville, Memphis, Navy and Temple. Playing against a powerhouse like Florida State will only give Houston more motivation to win.
The Seminoles likely will come out victorious, but the Cougar will keep it within the 7 points to cover.
New Orleans Bowl: Arkansas State (-2) vs. Louisiana Tech
The Red Wolves of Arkansas State will be an interesting challenge for the Louisiana State Bulldogs. Both teams have strong record and both have prolific offenses.
Arkansas State has scored over 35 points or more in every win this season and reached the 50-point plateau in three straight games to end the regular season and has won 8 straight overall.
Like Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech has an offensive powerhouse. The Bulldogs scored 441 points this season and ran up over 5,589 yards of total offense.
Louisiana Tech is averaging 36.8 points per game, which is No. 20 in the nation.
Arkansas State has faced a tougher overall schedule that has Louisiana Tech playing Missouri and USC as well as Toledo.
That should give them enough to win, but Louisiana Tech could surprise and take the game outright.
