Best Straight Up, Against the Spread and Total Points NFL Picks

Scott Morris | September 13, 2015

The first Sunday of the 2015 NFL regular season kicks off today and there are many good picks out there. These are three picks – Against the Spread, Straight Up and Total Points – worth taking a look at.

Best ATS Play: Seahawks vs. Rams

With a number of good betting options on the spread available in Week 1 the clash in the NFC West between Seattle and St. Louis looks to be a solid one.

The Rams beat Seattle the last time the teams met 28-26. The Seattle defense does not look to be as daunting as it has been in the past. One big reason is Dan Quinn the defensive coordinator is now the head coach for Atlanta.

Pick: Rams +4

Best Straight Up Play: Green Bay vs. Chicago

Green Bay will not lose to Chicago. Aaron Rodgers is not losing to Jay Cutler. Of all the Week 1 matchups in the NFL, this is one of the most straightforward straight up bets.

Green Bay has Chicago number having won 9 of the past 10 head-to-head game between the two teams.

Green Bay is a big favorite straight up at -330, while some books have them at -315.

Pick: Green Bay -315 in SU win

Best Total Points Play: Philadelphia vs. Atlanta

Go OVER might be the calling card this season if you play Philadelphia. Most everyone has the OVER on this matchup that features the up-tempo Eagles against an Atlanta defense that has not quite yet grasped the new defenses of their new head coach Dan Quinn.

The Atlanta defense will give up a number of points to the Eagles, but on the other hand, their offense is strong. Atlanta with Matt Ryan and his array of aerial targets such as Julio Jones will help to push this game up into the 70-point total or higher.

The game opened at 53.5 and was quickly bet up to 56 before setting at 55 on most sites.

Pick: OVER on 55 points at -110.
