NFL Picks Week 17 of 2014

Scott Morris | December 27, 2014

It’s not always easy to handicap the final week in the NFL because some teams will pull starters because their spots in the playoffs are already on locked up. Most teams are playing for pride at this point. We are approaching this week from an “against the public money” standpoint., that is, picking games that are opposite of what Joe public likes.

Miami -6 vs. Jets

We know that the Jets usually seem to split with the Dolphins every year and so many people are thinking that the Jets could win this game outright. And after Miami just barely held on to beat a bad Minnesota team last week, you can see why 85% of  the money is on NYJ. But the Jets are legitimately a bad team and Rex Ryan will be fired soon so we see this as a good day to take the Dolphins -6. Kansas City Pick vs. San Diego

The money is screaming in on San Diego to the tune of 80% to 20%. It’s true that the comeback win was very impressive vs. SF last week. And the spread is correct here. But we can see Kansas City winning this game. So a value play here is the Chiefs at home in a pick em’.

Cincinnati +3.5 at Pittsburgh

Cincy is a better team than the Steelers. Big Ben Roethlisberger is a great passer but he cannot win this game on his own. The Bengals are really playing well and are ready for the post season. This is really the best shot they have had in a long while. The Steelers are a team in slight decline and stagnation. I mean, they lost to the Jets this year. The money in is the book right now at 3.5 to 1 with Joe Public heavy on the Steelers at home. We just dont see it. Should be a pick em’. ake the Bengals plus the points.

Good luck this week and we hope to see you back all through the playoffs. Signup for your email notifications here:
