College Football Week 6 Picks Against the Spread

Scott Morris | October 3, 2014

Last week wasn’t a good week for my bets. I’m ready to regroup and focused on making some money betting on College Football in Week 6. There are some games I really like this week. I have confidence my bets on the following games will come through:

Purdue (+8.5) At Illinois

This is going to be one heck of a cripple fight. I’m surprised College Gameday isn’t going to be at this one (sarcasm). Both teams are horrible, but I like Purdue to beat that spread. Illinois has played teams just as bad as Purdue and been unable to win by double-digits. I like Purdue simply because Illinois is too mediocre to cover that large of a spread.  Pick: Illinois 17 Purdue 14

Ohio State (-8) At Maryland

Maryland takes on the Ohio State Buckeyes for the first time as Big Ten foes. Ohio State simply has too much talent for Maryland to handle. The Buckeyes still have College Football Playoff aspirations. Maryland’s aspirations are to get to any bowl game. Buckeyes cruise behind quarterback J.T. Barrett.  Pick: Ohio State 37 Maryland 13

Kansas State (-14) Versus Texas Tech

Texas Tech is a bad team, on the road against a solid team. Kansas State can score at will against Texas Tech’s Swiss Cheese defense. I can’t see any possible way the Red Raiders keep this game within 12 points. Kansas State is simply too talented and well-coached for them to handle.  Pick: Kansas State 41 Texas Tech 24

Auburn (-7.5) Versus LSU

LSU was served a heavy dose of reality last week against Mississippi State. That wasn’t a surprise. LSU is a highly overrated football team and proved it in Week 1 against Wisconsin. Auburn is an excellent team and should be able to run at will. Auburn will cruise, at home, to a big victory.  Pick: Auburn 34 LSU 17

Kentucky (+4) Versus South Carolina

Mark Stoops is doing a fantastic job at Kentucky. Steve Spurrier has done an excellent job at South Carolina, but this isn’t his year. This is Stoops’ biggest game and the Kentucky fans will be ready to turn the place hostile. Kentucky is playing well right now and South Carolina is coming off a heart breaking chokejob loss against Missouri.  Pick: Kentucky 23 South Carolina 20

Wisconsin (-8) At Northwestern

Wisconsin didn’t play well last week and Northwestern got a huge win over Penn State. With that said, Wisconsin is just plain better than Northwestern. The Wildcats won’t be able to stop Wisconsin’s rushing attack. I could see Wisconsin running for 300+ yards.  Pick: Wisconsin 33 Northwestern 20

Stanford (-2) At Notre Dame

I bet on Notre Dame to cover the 13 points against Syracuse and had to sweat that one out because Notre Dame kept turning the football over. I like Stanford here because they are the type of team that will eat undisciplined football teams alive. Notre Dame is a good but not great team. Stanford wins this one outright.  Pick: Stanford 23 Notre Dame 19
